This watercolor painting is one of two entrys I am submitting to the Mid-Southern Watercolorist Annual Juried Exhibition. I am doing life drawing which has resulted in better drawings for all of my paintings. Wish me luck!
This is a study of San Martino in watercolor. I was not happy with what I got. I think I will start over.
This is the set up for my first still life for this winter. The tea pot is a gift from a friend, the oranges from Kroger. I will use glazes of oil paint to develop the values and to enrich the colors. Hope to have it finished by this spring.
This is the view of White Wagon Farm I choose for my plein air painting at the October show and sale. I painted the farm as a full sheet watercolor in about two hours.

This little painting has been selected for the Arkansas Pastel Society exhibition to be held in Little Rock at the Arkansas Art Center's Community Gallery. The show dates arre November 1, 2007 -December 2, 2007. The Community Gallery is located at 7th & Rock Street near downtown Little Rock. The painting was jurored into the show by Albert Handell a well known Santa Fe Artist.

This Red Wing Black Bird was last seen perched in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. It is now sitting on a sunflower in one of my oil pastel paintings. The bird will soon be found on the front of a card in a 4X6 inch format.

A small study painting done from a photograph I took in Orvieto, Itay.
This is the first of my photos from Italy. Narni is a great place to visit and to photograph. I plan to paint this street scene with and without figures. Note the light coming over and under the arch.
The colors of Italy and especially Laromita are shown in this small painting. I hope to paint a larger version of this work in the future.
The peonie you see here was taken from a photo I made of one my Wife liked. The trick to getting the blue cast was to photograph my Mac's computer screen with the peonie photo showing, then scan and reload the photograph. I think the effect is very nice.
This painting was done after I discussed a workshop with a fellow painter. It is based on the idea that abstract design can lead the eye around the painting.
This is me and my painting of a rose that I grew in my backyard. Notice that I won a prize for the painting which was shown in the Arkansas League of Artists show at the Layman Library in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
This paintings was done after I saw a similar one in a watercolor magazine. It seems to work very well. This type of painting can be used for setting up a print using a limited run-say 25 prints
The print shown is from a photograph I took at Scott, Arkansas. The photo was transferred via computer and colored in pencils. I then photographed the colored pencil study and had a slide made. The slide was scanned to my computer (Mac) and fiddled up to what you see in the print adjacent. I have printed one artist proof and plan to print an addition of about 25 prints for sale. It was a long process but very rewarding.

Jackson Square is at the heart of New Orleans. This full sheet 30"x22" painting was composed for a photograph I took on my last trip to the City in 2002. I will be back in the City for a watercolor workshop next month with John Salminen.
This painting of chickens on a bench is one of two such painting I have done this year. The second one was given to my Son and Daughter-in-Law as a house warming and Christmas present. This form of semi-abstract work is very popular now-days. I plan to paint more painting in this style in the coming year.
First, you attend a watercolor card workshop. Then, you paint a watercolor painting of a winter scene. A little trick of using Corel Paint to change the watercolor to a woodblock print produces the card seen here. Just mount it to a card blank and send it to your friends and relatives. Merry Christmas, again.

This is a watercolor I painted on my new easel - a father's day gift. The colors are limited to sap green, yellow (aureolin), rose madder quinacridone and cerulean blue. The subject of the painting is entirely made up.
