Jack got dressed up to go and visit some new dog friends. They are both Corgi dogs like the Queen of England has-Pembrokes, no tails. So he decided he would just wear a little western kerchief and see how the girls would like it. They did and he did too. Cute isn't he.
Bisco Barn is a watercolor from a photograph I took at Bisco, Arkansas. We usually stop at a fruit stand and purchase a few tomatos. So, I asked the lady at the stand if it would be ok if I photographed her old barn. She said it was ok and here is my watercolor of the barn. It turned out just fine-I think I will submit the painting to the Mid-Southern Watercolor Fall Show to be juried. Wish me luck.
The new corgi dog now has a name. He is Jack, short for Jack Son.
LaJauna and I named him Jackson in honor of our son Tom who recently passed away. Thus far, he has been a real pleasure and a constant companion to our other corgi Willie Nelson. Keep in touch more will be posted as it comes to pass.
This little rascal is on his way to my Grandson's house. I hope he likes him because if he doesn't I am going to take him as a companion for my corgi dog Willie Nelson. They should be great together.
The La Romita sunflower painting shown here was painted after I came back from Italy in 2001. It has been a continuing source of good cheer and uplifts my spirit every time I see it. Thank God for little watercolor paintings dashed off when we have the time.
Sandy is standing in front of two of Amy Imler's abstract paintings. She and I plan to paint just like Amy some day. Ho!Ho!Ho! Well at least we try. Sandy paints ladies in a romantic theme and with lots of tassles. Maybe she will let me post one of her painting on this blog someday. I think you will really like her work.
Amy Imler studio is where the ladies paint on Thursday. The work done in the studio ranges from realistic oil paintings to abstracts done in the style of Amy's paintings. Clarence, Amy's husband, and I are the only males present for the weekly painting sessions. Lunch is served at Bobby's Cafe located down the road. Everything is southern fried and tastes great. The studio is an inspiration to all of us. I can't waite for thursday to come to paint with the ladies. The work done in the studio is some of the best done in Arkansas. You'all come see us now!
What you see here is a posterized version of a photo I took of my iris. I am trying to paint the thing on a sheet of 300# Arches rough. If I am successful I will post the painting at a later date.
Tom's painting, Untitled Abstract #2 was selected for the Mid-Southern Watercolorist 39th Annual Exhibition. Way to go Tom. Two more selections and he will be a signature member. Congratulations.
Just thought all of you might like to see how crowded my studio has gotten.
Sorry about January. There was just too much going on. The painting show was done for the january meeting of The Arkansas Pastel Society. The ladies critiqued the painting and made some useful suggestions. I look forwar to doing more pastel paintings in 2009.
The painting shown was one of two that I submitted to the Mid-Southern Watercolorist Annual Exhibition. The Juror selected the one shown here from the two I submitted. I'm happy because It got in the show.
